About the role

About the role

As someone with a strong Christian faith who is passionate about walking alongside people to help them live out their faith in practical and tangible ways, you will be tasked with growing the philanthropic revenue and increasing the impact of Tearfund’s work.

This full time or part time (4/5 days per week) role will play a critical part in Tearfund's fundraising strategy and offers you the flexibility to choose your time commitment.

Position Location: A mix of in office at Blackburn, Melbourne or Perth with hybrid possibilities depending on business needs.

You will play a frontline role in developing and nurturing relationships with supporters. You will support our fundraising strategy to nurture and grow existing and prospective major donors relationships, contributing to the financial sustainability of the organisation. The role spans strategy, goal setting, research and cultivation, prospecting, supporter nurture, relationship management and performance measurement within a Christian discipleship framework. You will be energised by striving to meet income, acquisition, conversion and retention targets to resource our partners working in some of the world’s hardest places. A significant amount of your time will be donor facing, meeting with current and prospective supporters face-to-face and making phone calls.

Is this you? To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A deep personal commitment to a more just and compassionate world, along with the ability to communicate this through a theological lens in a compelling and personable way using excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to build and manage a portfolio of supporters, through highly tailored relationships and communications.
  • High levels of emotional intelligence along with motivation, resilience, and enthusiasm.

  • The ability to contribute strategic insights and take an evidence-based approach to grow financial support. This will require experience analysing and interpreting data.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across teams to strengthen existing fundraising campaigns, to attract and retain donors.

  • Experience acquiring and retaining donors in a not-for-profit environment, or customers in a commercial equivalent - previous experience engaging the Christian community in Australia would be highly regarded

  • Demonstrated ability to meet financial KPIs and deliver financial results.
